Since buying an immersion blender last December, I’ve said goodbye to my regular blender and hello to the ease, simplicity and quick clean-up of my immersion blender. In fact, I find myself reaching for my immersion blender several times a week. I use it to make single-serving smoothies, blended vegetable soups, hummus and, on a blustery day like today, hot cocoa.
I love drinking Scharffen-Berger hot cocoa as a snack, but my least favorite part of making it is trying to get rid of the cocoa lumps in the hot milk. That’s where the immersion blender comes in handy: in just 3 seconds, the cocoa is seamlessly blended into the milk. Not only that, the immersion blender creates a lovely froth in a matter of seconds that would only be possible with minutes of mixing by hand.
As you can see from the first photo, I have the Cuisinart Smart Stick immersion blender, which cost $29.95 at Sur la Table. It’s a solid, basic blender, which has met my needs. If you’re interested is something with more features and willing to shell out more money, immersion blenders are also available cordless and/or with whisk and chopper attachments.
Have I convinced you that you need an immersion blender? I haven’t looked back since buying mine, and I doubt you will either.

I’m convinced! I got a milk frother recently and love it! I can see how easy it is to get rid of a huge blended in favor of a handheld!
Yes! Way to go!
I’m dropping in from Katie’s blog (Layers & Layers), and wanted to say you’ve inspired me to go get one of these bad boys! I stayed with friends once who had one and I used it to make salad dressing—- so handy!
